MPBAGS Chapter 33

"I was trying to guide you since you both seemed to be first-time visitors."

"Ah..."

Look at him making excuses. I heard what I heard, so how dare he shamelessly lie to my face!

"I thought you were making jokes by lumping the Rohanson County family and the Hosaquin Ducal family together."

Since a county family wasn't prestigious enough, he even brought up the ducal family. Anullen's face turned deathly pale when he realized I had heard the entire conversation. Anyone can gossip behind someone's back, but consider yourself unlucky to have been caught.

"Tell me, am I also dressed too shabbily for the temple?"

I had deliberately come out wearing a simple dress with no decorations that had been shoved into a corner of the dressing room without buying new clothes. Looking at the people in the garden, their clothing was so fancy that only my kids and I looked out of place.

I had dressed like this on purpose to shed my villainess image, but as Anullen said, it seemed to show that the county family was poor, which made me angry. I have money too!

"Your answer?"

Anullen Benzen trembled, not expecting me to ask so directly. Does he think I'll let it slide if he acts scared? I said I was escaping being a villainess, but that doesn't mean I became a pushover. I absolutely won't back down until I hear an answer.

As I stared quietly at Anullen Benzen, Gabriel, who had been standing far away, finally appeared.

"That can't be. The grand temple will always welcome the young lady."

"Sir Gabriel!"

"Young Master Benzen."

Anullen Benzen called out happily.

He didn't help Kanna and just watched, then came out when I appeared? I even sent a letter asking him to take good care of the kids!

"I didn't know you'd be coming together."

I wasn't planning to come, but I'm glad I did. Gabriel is really disqualified as a male lead. Of course, he was disqualified from the moment he fell for me instead of the female lead!

"Ah... do you two know each other?"

"Yes. I invited Lady Rohanson, saying I would guide her. Since I was late, Young Master Benzen was responding to her. Thank you."

"No, not at all. If I was of help to you, it's an honor."

Anullen Benzen bowed and scraped, then quickly seized the opportunity to flee. I won't forget this grudge. Just wait and see, I thought as I watched Anullen Benzen's retreating figure, when Gabriel drew my attention and spoke.

"Did you come to see the paintings, my lady?"

Gabriel maintained his courteous attitude. If I hadn't just seen him staying silent whether the female lead was being humiliated or not, I would have thought he was a truly sincere character.

"No. I was worried about sending just the two of them, and I was also curious about the grand temple. As you know, my health hasn't been good, so I've received quite a bit of help."

When I think about it, it's not really Gabriel's fault. It's not like he decided his own character settings. It's just that his character was built as a stoic knight who's only warm to his woman. Right, where would he have his own will?

I think I was too immersed in this. Thinking that way calms me down.

If we're talking about whose fault it is, it's mine for stealing the route. Not Gabriel's for being face-obsessed and falling for the villainess while ignoring the original female lead.

"While you're looking at the paintings, may I offer prayers?"

So let's take it up with the higher-ups. Since I came all the way to the temple, I should at least pray. If I'm lucky, I might even have a conversation with a god as a possession special privilege.
